Announcement – COVID-19

Update on Nov 9, 2020

As you know, BC's public health officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry, issued orders on November 7, 2020 specific to Fraser Health and Vancouver Coastal Health regions. Specifically, Dr. Henry ordered that there are to be “No social gatherings of any size with anyone other than your immediate household". While the delivery of care in private sector practices has not been prohibited as it DOES NOT constitute a “social gathering”, we strongly encourage our current clients and individuals seeking services to consider and, when appropriate, discuss the pros and cons of in-person vs. virtual care with your individual therapist. As a psychology clinic, our priority is to protect the health and safety of our clients, clinicians, and our loved ones. As such, most of our clinicians are only offering virtual appointments at this time. Following the instructions of the College of Psychologists of BC, we will regularly review and ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC and the BCCDC guidelines on masks and other measures to prevent the spread of CoVid-19, and to exercise professional judgement and discretion in the use of PPE and social distancing in private practice or other settings for which no other specific guidelines apply.

As always, our clinicians are committed to assisting those in need of emotional support and scientifically supported treatments. If you are struggling with stress, anxiety, mood problems or any of the concerns described below, we are here to help. If you have extended health coverage for psychological services, this may be a great time to take advantage of it now. You can book an appointment right away by going to our clinic's online booking page and check out our clinicians' availability by month.

Please be kind, be safe, and be calm. Let's stay together by staying apart. This too shall pass.

Update on July 1, 2020

With the concerted effort of all British Columbians under the guidance of the health authorities and Dr. Bonnie Henry, we are deeply grateful that we have flattened the pandemic curve. As BC has entered Phase 3 of the province's Restart Plan, some of our clinicians are considering a gradual return of in-person service at the office. All of our clinicians will continue to offer services online going forward but would consider in-person service based on clinical needs. Please check with your clinician for their availability for in-person service. To help protect the health of our clients, our clinicians and their families, we followed the guidelines set forth by WorkSafe BC and College of Psychologists of BC and developed a safety protocol for re-opening. You may view the protocol by visiting our Announcement-COVID-19 Safety Protocol page. We respectfully ask our clients not to have an in-person appointment should they experience any COVID-19 symptoms or have come into contact with anyone who have had COVID-19 symptoms within the past 10 days. You will not be charged a cancellation fee for these reasons. Simply contact your clinician to cancel or reschedule the appointment or to arrange for an online appointment. We have the same policy for all of our clinicians. We thank you in advance for your help to keep everyone safe.

March 2020

As you know, serious concerns have been expressed about the COVID-19 pandemic. Wise Mind Centre has responded to the calls of the BC and federal government to practice social distancing to slow down the spread of COVID-19. We have been offering clinical services by phone and online (via a secure, video-conferencing link) since March 2020. This includes our clinical consultation, individual therapy, and group therapy sessions. There are more than 30 years of research showing that online therapy is as effective as face to face therapy for a variety of psychological concerns. At this time of uncertainty, our clinicians are committed to assisting those in need of emotional support and scientifically supported treatments. If you are struggling with stress, anxiety, mood problems or any of the concerns described below, we are here to help. If you have extended health coverage for psychological services, this may be a great time to take advantage of it now. Our clinicians have increased our availability for online appointments and will be able to assist you quickly. You can book an appointment right away by going to our clinic's online booking page and check out our clinicians' availability by month.
