We Live What We Teach
Naomi Giberson, R.C.C.
Naomi is a 4th-year doctoral student in Clinical Psychology at Adler University, with a Master of Management from the University of British Columbia and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from St. Francis Xavier University. She is also a Registered Clinical Counselor in BC. Naomi has a passion for helping clients live whole and meaningful lives despite the challenges of trauma, anxiety, depression, emotion dysregulation, work-related stress, intrusive thoughts, grief, interpersonal conflict, gender and sexuality concerns, medical diagnoses, pain, and injury. Naomi's past training has focused on assessing and counseling male survivors of sexual abuse, clients with traumatic brain injuries, and people navigating career changes. Naomi’s research evaluates factors that contribute to the use of non-empirically supported treatments rather than the use of evidence-based practice in the mental health field. Hailing from the Maritimes, Naomi brings warmth to the behavioural interventions she uses, drawing skills primarily from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Her therapeutic style is characterized by thoughtful candor and a tailored approach that harnesses each client's inherent strengths. Naomi is a practicum trainee working under the supervision of Dr. Debbie Leung at Wise Mind Centre.
