Karen Romanin, R.N.
Karen studied nursing and psychology at the University of British Columbia. She has been a psychotherapist at Vancouver General Hospital Outpatient Psychiatry for over 20 years and has had the privilege of working with a wide range of individuals including those managing symptoms of anxiety, depression, emotion regulation difficulties, PTSD, and complicated bereavement. She is the former clinical lead of the DBT program there. Karen also considers herself the lucky mom of two great human beings.
Karen is a co-leader of our multi-family adolescent DBT skills group at the Wise Mind Centre. She also offers clinical consultation to friends and family of individuals suffering from mental illness. Shannon Wilcox, R.C.C.
Shannon is a registered clinical counsellor (RCC) with the B.C Association of Clinical Counsellors (#12811). She graduated from the University of Victoria in 2015 and has been counselling in non-profit and public sectors since then. Shannon is passionate about working with individuals that have experienced abuse and other forms of trauma, as well as those struggling with relationship issues, life stressors, and transitions. She comes from a trauma-informed perspective and uses interpersonal and attachment approaches, as well as mindfulness, cognitive-behavioral and somatic techniques to help clients move through their challenges and make changes in their life they desire.
Shannon is the latest addition to the Wise Mind team. She will be accepting new clients in the coming weeks and allowing online booking. Please check with your insurer to see if your extended health plan would reimburse services provided by a RCC.
