Angela Hormiz is a fourth-year Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) student in Clinical Psychology at Adler University. She holds a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Behaviour, Cognition, and Neuroscience from the University of Windsor. Since 2021, she has also worked as a Supervisor with Canada’s 9-8-8 Suicide Crisis Helpline, gaining extensive experience in crisis intervention.
Angela completed her Assessment Practicum at Adler Community Health Services (ACHS), where she conducted comprehensive psychodiagnostic and psychoeducational assessments. During her Intervention Practicum at Behavioural Parenting, she provided assessment and therapy to children, adolescents, and adults, as well as parent coaching. Her clinical experience includes anxiety, obsessive-compulsive and related disorders, depression, body dysmorphic disorder, developmental disorders, ADHD, emotion regulation difficulties, and behavioural concerns.
Angela draws from evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Adlerian Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and mindfulness-based interventions. She also has experience with behavioural parent training, parent-led CBT, and executive functioning coaching.
Angela’s clinical interests include depressive disorders, grief, trauma- and stressor-related concerns, emotion regulation difficulties, interpersonal and relationship challenges, and adjustment to life transitions. Her approach is collaborative, culturally responsive, and grounded in compassion, curiosity, and non-shaming accountability, with a focus on helping clients create meaningful and sustainable change beyond crisis stabilization alone. She values understanding clients within the context of their families, relationships, cultures, and broader systems.
Angela is active in professional leadership as Adler University’s Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) Campus Representative. Her dissertation will explore the impacts of suicide loss among bereaved Middle Eastern and North African (MENA) individuals living in North America.
Angela is a practicum trainee working under the supervision of Dr. Debbie Leung at Wise Mind Centre.
Please note that Wise Mind Centre is not a vendor of ICBC and WorkSafe BC. Angela does not accept ICBC or WorkSafe BC referrals.
