Dr. Stephanie Gumuchian (Licensed Psychologist #1017344) earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec, and completed her residency (2025) with the Fraser Health Authority in New Westminster, British Columbia. During residency, she gained extensive experience in health psychology and older adult mental health, providing psychological consultation on inpatient medical and surgical wards, working in behavioural medicine, supporting cardiac health populations, and serving on a specialized geriatric inpatient psychiatric unit.

Her clinical interests include mental health concerns such as trauma, anxiety, depression, sleep difficulties, body image, grief and bereavement, and life transitions, as well as health-related challenges including caregiver stress, adjustment to illness, chronic pain, somatic symptoms, and behaviour change for improved health.

Dr. Gumuchian’s primary orientation is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), integrated with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), motivational interviewing, and dialectical-behavioural strategies. She practices from a holistic, client-centered, and collaborative framework that fosters warmth, understanding, and safety.

Her approach is trauma-informed, gender-affirming, and culturally responsive, recognizing how systemic oppression, colonization, and discrimination shape mental health. Above all, she values the therapeutic alliance as the foundation for meaningful change.

Please note that while Dr. Gumuchian often incorporates DBT-informed strategies into her sessions, she does not provide comprehensive DBT treatment.

Please note that Wise Mind Centre is not a vendor of ICBC and WorkSafe BC. Dr. Stephanie Gumuchian does not accept ICBC or WorkSafe BC referrals.
