Spencer is accepting new clients and offers CBT, comprehensive DBT, and DBT-informed therapy.
Spencer has a master’s degree in clinical psychology. Spencer Chen is a PhD student in clinical psychology at Simon Fraser University. She has experience supporting individuals who experience depression, anxiety, and difficulties with emotion regulation, and is committed to providing care that is grounded in empirical research while maintaining a warm and safe therapeutic relationship.
Her research broadly focuses on suicide prevention, dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), borderline personality disorder, and emotion regulation. Much of her research aims to understand the factors that help suicidal individuals choose to continue living during periods of intense distress, reflecting her commitment to supporting clients in building lives they experience as meaningful and worth living.
Spencer brings a strong appreciation for the diversity of life experiences people carry into therapy. She approaches her clinical work with curiosity and respect for clients’ strengths and personal histories, and aims to help her clients develop both meaningful insight and practical skills that support change in their daily lives.
Spencer is a practicum student working under the supervision of Dr. Debbie Leung at Wise Mind Centre.
Please note that Wise Mind Centre is not a vendor of ICBC and WorkSafe BC. Spencer does not accept ICBC or WorkSafe BC referrals.
